Why Newspapers in Education? |

"Newspapers In Education", NIE is an international program that began in 1955 introducing the newspapers in school classrooms. The main purpose of the program is to improve reading, writing and spelling. The NIE program also helps students to learn about their community, and to become responsible young adults.
We live in an "instant gratification" era provided by today's entertainment industry. Students and parents alike have lost the ability to utilize critical thinking, reading and communication skills. This is why NIE is so important in our schools today. |

We have the exciting opportunity to offer FREE newspapers to your school to be used in the classroom or by staff for educational purposes. These papers will be paid for by local businesses who believe that this tried and true program is an excellent way to help the education of our children. Newspapers are a daily almanac, vocabulary bonanza, encyclopedia of current events, community record, consumer guide and much, much more-all rolled up into one! Research has found that classrooms that participate in the NIE Program successfully do from 10 to 30% better on standardized tests!
